Had my first experience using the CSR "Points Boost" when I tried to book airfare for my upcoming trip to Bonaire.
The only itinerary where Points Boost was offered was an AA flight that had a 25 minute connection. First Class was just a few hundred dollars more than the Main Cabin with seat selection (maybe $1400 v 1100), but I didn't trust the 25 minute layover and chose to book with Delta.
Chase Travel offered the Delta flight with a 2 hr layover in ATL for ~$2000pp and 300,000 URs. I booked it directly with Delta for cash instead for ~$1200pp cash.
Rental car was similar. Avis mini-van was $708 or 47,186 URs on the Chase portal. Booked through Delta for $340, albeit the latter was a Suzuki v Dodge Caravan.
The flight offered was not a points boost redemption. If what you say is true, you were only offered .666 cpp (2K fare, 300K points). The points boost fares should be 1.75x to 2x and will have a little rocket next to them. See here:
