In my experience:
- Purely domestic flights in China are always cheaper on ctrip than trip.com by about 5-10%;
- International flights to/from China are slightly cheaper on trip.com than ctrip (typically 5%)
- Purely International/Domestic flights that don't touch China tend to be much cheaper than ctrip if you play the with the Point of Sales a bit.
There are ofcourse exceptions to all 3 ofcourse.
