Just visited the Chelsea lounge, mind you I am in the camp of tipping based on local customs and only in service (or how it was 5 years ago), so in short I’m a “stingy” tipper, but one who recognizes tipping goes towards paying peoples salary in some occupations and rewards good service.
I have always tipped in (in the USA) FFD/or a la carte lounges, like QF F in LAX. No different than today where the attendant taking care of me in the Chelsea lounge was very thankful for the tip after the first service. Needless to say, my drinks never ran dry. I’m still very anti tipping culture, but as someone who lives in the USA and believes incentives motivate people, I have no issue tipping $10-20 in the US for servers who go above and beyond, especially for those of us who are able to travel in premium cabins.
