No, I stated correctly: FREE SEAT SELECTION FOR CLASSIC FARE OR ABOVE, IF NOT (that means if you book lower than classic) you have to pay for a seat. For long haul flights, SEN/HON can reserve any seat in economy free of charge. The rule applies for intra EU flights only. There can be some issues across LH/OS/LX, when you could select a different seat free of charge, but that is rather an excemption. (domestic LX flights, some LH short intra EU flights).
Anyway, it would be brutal that LH SEN/HON would have to pay for a seat and that this woud be a free perk for AZ members. Don't you think so. And also NO free checked bag for LIGHT fare, as gold member you get ONE extra free bag, on top of what you are entitled for your ticket. So if ticket says ZERO bags, that means you don't get anything. I am sorry, and it was quite a shock for all of us when the light fares were created. Many has been written about since then, but unfortunately there is nothing we could do.
