Prior to that it was a return leg from ORD which also involved the 388 and an involuntary seat change due to the booked seat being blocked due to being unserviceable. (I also had a problem flying 388 to MIA when we were moved because the seat was taken by crew). Unfortunately, when late changes occur there are usually very few alternative seat options available and hence resulting in no direct aisle access. I realise that we have been unlucky with it happening 3 times but, if the aircraft wasn’t equipped with CW, it wouldn’t matter because I don’t mind where I sit as long as I have aisle access without having to climb over someone, which is all but impossible for me. I still have a few thousand Avios and so I'm thinking about going over to cash purchase and keeping them until the change over is complete. However, if it’s going to be a long wait I will worry about devaluation. It’s definitely a 1st world problem but I would like to avoid it if possible
you say you’re limited to BA Metal but you can also use voucher on Iberia and Aer Lingus, you might find you save a bunch in tax. Iberia has quite nice business seats across the 350/330
