Just following up on this to update everyone on how my requalification happened, exactly as outlined by
eightyhertz.
At the end of my 12 month requalification period at the end of May, I was at 42K requalification miles, about 8k short of the 50K required for Gold requalification. At the start of June, I was informed via email that I had been dropped from Gold to Silver.
In the SIA Mobile App, the Silver requalification dial showed that I needed 20K+ miles to requalify for Silver. But a simple swipe right revealed a pleasant surprise: the Gold requalification dial in the Krisflyer app was reset to show a 12 month sliding window, and based on that, I still had 42K requalifcation miles from the preceeding 12 months i.e. I did not have to restart from 0 to requalify for Gold. I had just 8K miles to go.
I spent the month of June as Silver. I took exactly one flight where I had the novel experience of standing in line in the general boarding queue...
During the month, I flew another 8K worth of miles, which meant by June 29th I had hit the required 50K elite required miles, and received another email today, 1 July, confirming that I was back to Gold for the next 12 months.
So...business as usual again. Or should I say Gold as usual, as KF Gold are still not allowed to use the SilverKris Lounge Business Class section at Changi. There's still a big divide between KF Gold and PPS where the real benefits happen. But that's a story for another time!
