Air France Economy Light advance seat selection for family of 4
Hi,
I'm traveling from RDU to AMS in April 2026 with my wife and two kids. We are taking 4 rollerboards as carry-ons and don't need to pay for the free checked bag for each ticket. Air France's economy light seems like a doable option b/c we're traveling on a budget, but I'm nervous about the "free standard seat selection at check-in" clause and what that will do to our family's seating as a group. I'm willing to pay ~$75 per person to have a guaranteed arrangement of window/middle and window/middle seats in two consecutive rows behind each other. The other option is to pay for regular economy and get our preferred seat selection now, but it's $225 more per person and includes checked bags (which we don't need). My question is: can I pay for economy light and then just pay for the seat selection ahead of time, without the bags? I want to avoid a situation where the seat selection is either not allowed at all ahead of time, or it's too costly and would have been better to just pay for standard economy. The language on Air France's website is really vague, so if anyone on this forum has done this before I'd appreciate the insight. Thanks!
