That aside, I'd be interested to see how this changes the current menu of credit card offerings. We all know that the US Bigs (and AC) see CC deals as a big chunk of change. Canadian cards are way less juicy, but maybe AC makes having an affinity card an even bigger part of the equation. Higher earnings multipliers, lower redemption rates, more cashews, something.

The one thing that I doubt they will "fix" is the relative fall off in benefits once you cross much beyond 300K SQM and $20K SQD. Although maybe a mysterious higher tier appears. But that can't be the sweet spot - it has to be something that appeals more to the discretionary traveler.

In the end, it all comes down to the behaviours that they are trying to incent.

But riffing on expert7700 's comment up-thread, as we have seen South of the border there are many ways to screw this up.
