True in theory I agree...what stinks though is that I very rarely will get a YBM fare but I cannot actually purchase an A fare except for extreme circumstances due to my status on the totem pole . Occasionally it would be nice to have this flexibility to purchase an upgrade with miles. Oh well for longer domestic I will just keep traveling on the weekends!!!
