It is largely computerised, and your bags will go into the Early Bag Store until about 2 hours to departure, then the robots will move it to the main bin area for your flights. Most larger European airports have a fair degree of automation, more so than airports in the Americas. It's not fool-proof, automation brings its own challenges from time to time.
