So I was able to reset my password and login to the portal again.

Strangely it shows TWO different registrations for me - one showing status "REJECTED" and a more recent one showing status "GRANTED". The email I received seems to be for the earlier dated one given the reference number cited.

My guess is that at some point I didn't complete my application and started a new one, and they finally got down to cleaning it out of the system and "REJECTING" it. Hopefully it won't have issues when I next travel.
