On the part about recalled power banks:

This article on NotebookCheck lists a bunch of power bank brands which have just been affected on 20 June.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Anker-...1041335.0.html

Apparently they (or their OEMs / ODMs) all sourced their batteries / cells from the same company. While the NbC article says they were from Amprius, this SCMP article suggests that they were more specifically from “Apex Wuxi, a subsidiary of American battery maker Amprius Technologies and Wuxi Industrial Development Group”.

I expect these are the same reason for the US recall a few weeks ago as well.

The recalled Anker products in the past month (from here and here):
  • Anker PowerCore 10000 Power Bank A1263
  • Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) — Model A1257
  • Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, 22.5W, Built-In USB-C Cable) — Model A1647
  • Anker MagGo Power Bank (10,000mAh, 7.5W) — Model A1652
  • Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-In USB-C and Lightning Cable) — Model A1681 (+1680?)
  • Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-In USB-C Cable) — Model A1689

Anker Power Banks recalled previously, apparently (no idea if same defect or otherwise):
  • Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K) - A1642
  • Anker 321 Power Bank (PowerCore 5K, Black) A1112
  • Anker 535 Power Bank (PowerCore 20K) A1366

I am unsure where the full list of other brands’ recalled power banks is, including from the known players:
  • Xiaomi
  • Ugreen
  • Baseus
  • Romoss (apparently recalled 500k p.banks)
  • Aukey

What’s scary is that these cells could easily be in power banks from much smaller brands; who knows whether they’re still around to support any such recall…
