Sure it will. When you talk to the baggage department, you can tell them where it is, so they can avoid putting it in the queue of lost bags to search for. And it's not like they really
search. The info is in the computer in case someone comes across your "lost" bag.
Airtags have certainly helped me in this regard. I flew SFO-DOH-BKK a few years ago and no bag on arrival. The Airtag showed it still in the terminal at SFO. Spoke to QR baggage and told them where it was, they retrieved it and put on the next flight(s). Much more efficient than expecting them to look for it.
