I don't think processes have improved for refunds has improved. For manual refunds, I believe the form has to be filled out along with a 3 month waiting period. Any automatic refunds (e.g flexi fare cancellations) have always been processed very quickly. I think there has been a change to how banks/card processing companies process refunds as I've seen them come through much faster, sometimes instantly.
