Are you confident that the bag will fit in the TSA scanner? Can you not just check your bag in first with TAP, and then make your way to Terminal C? (Does UA run an airside shuttle bus between C and B?)
Not 100% confident but it's a medium checked bag so not that much larger than a carry on in width which should be the most important dimension for the scanner. Unfortunately TAP doesnt open check in until 2.5 hours before the flight
