An aside, the choice of two 11 hour segments vs 6+16 flight was an interesting personal deliberation. Which is better for jet-lag, which has better upgrade opportunity, .time of day, TPAC vs TATL ...... but those were separate issues. Only my second India trip.
I suspect using multi-city with Google Flights may be creating a fare break instead of showing a single fare on return flights. I played around with Google Flights and it's filters and I don't think there is a way to do it and Kayak may be only option as mentioned above.
