Reviews of UA FA service based on one flight are not meaningful. Everyone who flies UA regularly knows the service is wildly inconsistent. Same is true of AA and BA. Surprisingly, it's now also true of SQ, as they've had a ton of turnover in their inflight crews, with lots of new FAs, many of whom are totally clueless and don't really seem to care. I was also surprised by how much the service has deteriorated on NH, which used to have absolutely exemplary service.
Fwiw, our last flight HKG-LAX the service was fantastic. It was much better than SQ LAX-NRT on the outbound. I have no expectation that every long-haul UA flight will be the same though.
I think NH is a bit inconsistent now with crews just like UA. We recently flew UA SFO-SIN in Polaris and the crew was excellent, but of course the food was just adequate. For almost 17 hours tho, the seat is obviously far more important.
Our return was NH BKK-NRT-SFO. First leg was fine, but crew average at best and for the second we had The Room, which I really enjoyed. I found it odd though that NH doesn’t carry Baileys or even Kahlua, so UA wins on that minor front. NH crew on that leg were at the top of their game tho.
