Booked an award tix last year online at AS for an award flight on AA. 1st pax was myself, 2nd pax was my wife and 3rd pax was EXST with our last name. Booking was accepted and ticketed, flight was CLT to DFW and 100% full accept for our middle seat. Made the flight much more enjoyable. Tried doing it on HA and their system wouldn't accept the EXST.
Thanks. I thought about doing this and seems like others have also had success going this route. But given that the official policy on both AS and AA seems to be that you must call in to do this, I was wary of taking the gamble on just doing it myself.
I will probably try calling in to AA in the next couple of days and see if they will let me add an extra seat even though I booked the itinerary through AS, and I'll report back. Not sure if it will matter but I booked a cash ticket through AS rather than an award ticket (same price as through AA, and wanted the 100% EQM earning).
