Most points program credit card policies have wording to specifically cover points bookings, in this case a sampling from TD Canada's policy:
"Covered Trip means travel on a Common Carrier, the fare for which at least 75% has been charged to Your Account and/or using Your Aeroplan Points"
I appreciate the correction. For some reason I thought the way points bookings were covered was by requiring the taxes and fees on a pts booking to be on the card.
