I stayed at the Winter Palace in Luxor last week and asked the Front Desk Manager why it was not possible to book either their hotel or the Old Cataract in Aswan for 2026. After consulting the General Manager, he informed me that major changes were underway since a controlling interest in both hotels (along with five other luxury hotels like the Movenpick in Aswan) had been purchased by TMG Holdings. As a result, all seven hotels will in future be managed by ICON (the hospitality division of TMG). It seems that the Old Cataract may become a Four Seasons property next year to complement the new Four Seasons Hotel that TMG is currently building in Luxor. From what was said, rates at the Old Cataract can be expected to rise somewhat.
