In the US your airlines have well developed IRROPs processes that are accessible online via apps and websites, QR don't have that, that's why you're seeing the original fare rules if you attempt to cancel online. Screenshot the message in the travel alerts section of the website as your proof and if you want to signal to QR you don't intend to turn up to free up your seats for others, hit the cancel button in manage my booking

Wouldnt it be good to cancel to open up the biz seats for those that need them? It looks like the IAD-DOH flight was cancelled for today, so I would think me getting the flight cancelled to free up the space for someone that is impacted today would be helpful. I know I would want that if I was on the cancelled flight today. I do agree on the refund portion, it can wait. I still think simply being a now show is not a good idea for multiple reasons.
