PSA: Never Use Cheap or Unknown Booking Agencies — My Experience With a Fake Flight f

Just wanted to share a recent (and very frustrating) experience with Lucky2Go (also operating as ESKY), in hopes it helps someone else avoid the same trap. Also looking for advice on how to possibly get my money back, or at least report these guys.

I was flying from Israel to NY with an Emirates ticket from Athens to Newark, so I just needed a short hop from Tel Aviv to Athens. I found what looked like a great deal on Google Flights for a flight operated by Aero Direkt. Some booking sites called it Air Sinai, others showed Aero Direkt, and a few mentioned Fly YO — all using the same 4D airline code. It was confusing, but after some research, it looked like Fly YO (a Romanian charter airline) had picked up the old Air Sinai code, and given how many charter flights are running out of Israel lately, it didn’t seem impossible.

I booked through Lucky2Go, but soon got nervous when I couldn’t find the flight listed anywhere official — not on airline websites, not at the airport, and not in any flight tracker. I tried to cancel, but they told me the ticket was non-refundable. They kept assuring me it was legit, and even pointed me to third-party booking platforms like CitizenPlane and ESKY, where my reservation actually showed up, but still nothing in any real airline system.

Day of travel comes, I get to Ben Gurion Airport and nobody — not airline staff, not information desks, not security — had heard of the flight. Security even showed me their list of all departing flights for the day, and mine simply wasn’t on it. They wouldn’t even tag my bags or let me through. I ended up having to buy a last-minute Aegean ticket for $950 just to make my connection.

To add insult to injury, Lucky2Go/ESKY refused a refund, insisting the ticket was “non-refundable,” even though the flight never existed. I tried to dispute the charge with Chase, but since the merchant showed a ticket was “issued,” Chase sided with them, closed the dispute, and won’t let me submit any more documentation.

Lesson learned: Avoid these third-party agencies, especially if you see a weird mix of airline names or codes. I honestly still don’t know if these sites are running a scam or if they’re just incompetent, but either way, they’re acting in bad faith and not taking responsibility.

If anyone has advice on:
  • How to escalate or report this (either in the US, Israel, or Europe)
  • How to get a refund or any sort of compensation
  • Or any creative way to go after these scammers
I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for reading, and hopefully this helps someone else avoid the same mess.
