I would first take the normal path to baggage claim after exiting your flight. Collect your bag and then head up to the main ticketing level where there is direct access to the hotel entrance. You do not even have to go outside and there is no shuttle you need to take. The shuttle only comes into play if you are arriving at the other terminal...the Evans/North terminal.
