Here's my takeaway of the major differences:
Auto Rental CDW -
Secondary on the Autograph Journey, Primary with Chase.
Trip Delay - Not covered at all on the Autograph Journey. (Up to $500 per passenger on the Chase Sapphire Preferred/Reserve if your trip is delayed specifically due to one of the 4 covered reasons, otherwise pound sand)
Trip Cancellation / Interruption - This is where things are more interesting on the Autograph Journey. Almost all of the covered hazards line up between the Chase and Wells Fargo card policies, the main difference is that the policy on the Autograph Journey includes additional/alternate transportation (ie, last minute expensive flights to re-join a trip or get home) and Chase does not.
The other big difference is regarding payment for the insurance to apply. The policy on the Wells Fargo card is more restrictive (underline emphasis below is mine):
Trip means any prepaid Travel Arrangements booked through a Travel Supplier when the entire cost, less redeemable certificates, vouchers, or coupons, have been purchased with the Covered Card and/or rewards program associated with Your covered Account, and which does not exceed sixty (60) consecutive days in duration.
I used the card to pay for my hotel on a recent trip to London and no foreign transaction fees were assessed.
