Had an update on the bag tracking portal saying my bag is being delivered to Edinburgh via courier. I called them to ask when I can expect delivery and they tell me all the delayed Edinburgh luggage is being driven down overnight from Heathrow to Edinburgh and will be out for delivery in the morning. Is there a reason why the bags are being sent by road and not being reflighted, especially on the LHR-EDI route with multiple frequencies throughout the day. Strange if you ask me. But grateful for ANY sort of update from them. Now we wait.
If domestic, given the well established and essentially overnight coverage to almost the whole of the UK, it's easier for BA to dump the bags with these specialist companies and they sort it all out. If it were to be flown to EDI, then getting the bag to a courier in an airport protected from vehicle access would just cost more, involve more people and save almost no time.
