And it wouldn’t have cost Chase much to maintain that earnings level for those cardholders. But then there are also the cardholders that put $75k in cruise expenses on the card. It seems Chase doesn’t want to reward those customers anymore. They could have, perhaps, instituted an annual cap similar to the Ink Cash 5X cap. But they chose not to, and I agree that it’s not going to come back even if more people than anticipated cancel their cards.
I personally just opened an Ink Preferred card to hopefully maintain my 3X UR option beyond Oct 26…. for a while at least. But this is game that is constantly changing, so we all have to adapt to new rules and products.
For most people, the incremental benefit of Ink Preferred probably doesn’t justify the annual fee and complexity.
You would have to spend $5000 on no “other travel” to just break even. And it’s even more if you have a Freedom Unlimited.
