So yeah, I'd also take whatever customer service said with a bag of grains of salt. A single grain probably won't cut it.

According to Accor they we’re working to have Accor Plus be able to be combined with other paid cards by the end of last year, maybe they are close to solving the problem of having plus as an orphan. There are work arounds that enable plus and other paid cards to exist but they are messy.
