The average person does not have $100 grand lying around to simply push a button to send to a bank. Many have $$ tied up in 401k or maybe IRA. Even top 1% may not have liquid funds.
I just moved some legacy/Roth IRA balance over from Fidelity. It doesn’t need to be liquid.
Chase does not require me to hold a dime there to get a CSR (or to renew my JPM Reserve).
Nobody requires anything. You just gain additional benefits by having funds deposited in the case of BofA
