We occupied Row 1 directly opposite the crew. The APU was not working (I seem to hear this more and more). The aircraft was stifling. The crew must have been worn out by the time we got going and the engines powered the A/c. The delay in the heat meant that there was melting ice which meant that the Champagne was probably not as cold as it could but it was fine.
The choices (no menu) were Barbecue Chicken, Totellini, and a ham salad. We both chose the Barbecue Chicken which was tasty. It was served with a hot spicy rice which was at my limits of mouth heat. Oddly my Beloved ate it and had no consequences thanks to a quickly applied Gaviscon. The starter was a black grain with yogurt which was perfectly pleasant. The real star of the show was the Lemon Crumble. The Lemon curd was tart and sweet. I must get the recipe.
The Champagne served was Maison Pannier. I liked it.
