Stayed here earlier this year. Here are some thoughts.
Used 50k certs at this hotel. My first impression - holy crap this is close to the Duomo / main tourist square. Came from MXP airport, and it was a short walk out of the Metro exit to the hotel. Was a little disoriented at first - lots of exits / people, but then figured it out.
Can see the little bar at the entrance. Nice sitting area.
Was given this room. It's an upgraded room, but didn't necessarily feel like it. As you can see - no particular view except to the interior. But it was a very quiet room. Could see down to the lobby.
So this room (type) has this large piece of artwork leaning against the wall. I thought - this is not safe in an earthquake or whatever. That thing could fall on me as I am sleeping. If there was something other then its weight holding it back, I could not see that. Once I got over that shock...
I was perturbed by the bathroom. As another commented - very small - but the thing I disliked the most about it - it smelled. The goldish color coating is wearing off / has worn off, and there is a metal smell in the bathroom. Not pleasant. The sink is just too weird for my taste too - but hey, you're here because of the modern art and high CPP?
Hallway.
Anyway room aside, found an awesome pizza place. It's a cafe located on the 2nd floor of a building that also has a Burger King. Pizza was so light & crispy - and not all places make it like this I experienced. I would kill for this in the USA. Hahaha.
This place is just a short walking block or two from STRAF. Many other restaurants all around. The nearest supermarket proper is a Carrefour about a 10 minute walk away - nearly hidden even when you are in the same area. I overheard someone asking where this Carrefour Express was outside as I exited! It's that well blended in.

I did not have breakfast at the hotel as it was too $$, and as earlier posts note - not included in Design hotels. But an "endless" amount of choices outside (Including a McDonalds - where I went for bfast).
STRAF is right next to the Galleria (Also non-tourist one in Naples FYI). Really...you could not get any closer. I saw the Park Hyatt nearby - but that's a helluva lot more $$$. Noticed another non-chain one too...have no idea how much that was/is.
For 2nd night I changed rooms to a front. Brighter, but noisier. Also wi-fi radiation point (Router) I had trouble blocking - could not see/find it. [Other room was good w/o me doing anything]. Green device in photo below is my meter FYI. From slt.co
The room did have this nice balcony. As you can see the Duomo is in sight from one direction. Lots of cafes / pizza places in other direction. This room also had a much better (normal) bathroom. Trendy clean design, and no smell. Roomier.
One downside of this room was the early morning garbage or cleaning truck parked just below the balcony in the morning making tons of noise. [Thus - the first room - is an upgrade from a sound perspective, but downgrade from a bathroom perspective IMHO] Not sure if this maintenance truck is there every morning, or just my morning. hahaha. Closing the balcony door cuts out most of the noise...but since it's nice to leave the balcony door open overnight...
I do have a video w/ sound of this noise - but haven't uploaded yet. Also this 2nd room has this ridiculously dumb art thing/vase. You can see these two horns or whatever, and they could easily poke you in the eye. I took them out and put them on the floor.
Really dumb idea to have in such a small room. I did NOT comment on this at the desk - but I should have. But it seems common sense to me. "Modern art"
So one room, potentially injured by a giant falling art canvas, another - getting poked in the eyes. hmm....
That's it. So both positive and negatives with this hotel. You decide. Changed to a Crowne Plaza closer to the train station for my early train to Naples.
