  • Rate: $207.00 per night before taxes and resort fees, but used 'Buy 2 nights get the third free' so total paid was just under 500 for three nights after taxes/fees.
  • Upgrade: No upgrade was mentioned but we did end up getting a king room, not a queen room. So a minor but still welcome upgrade.
  • $100 property credit: Used exclusively at the brunch/health food restaurant attached to the lobby. Did not get to use it at the cocktail bar and the flagship restaurant on the roof recently closed permanently.
  • Loyalty Points/Benefits Received: Received Hilton Gold points and gold multiplier! Interestingly, I got asked at check-in if I wanted free breakpoints or points. I chose the points, as I assumed the hotel staff meant choosing between the breakfast and any points earned, but according to my Hilton I just received 1000 bonus points titled MyWay. More research shows that this is a thing but I had no idea.
  • Early check-in/Late checkout: Got early check-in at 1pm. The agent checking me in wasn't super friendly, but the rest of the staff was. Interestingly she was told (in Spanish by another worker, according to my partner) that our room was ready, but she told us our room wouldn't be ready for about 20 minutes. A moment later, they told us our room was indeed ready. Upon asking they offered a 1pm late checkout (usually 12pm). Didn't end up using it because of our plans. We would've used it if it was extended to 2 or after I think.
  • Likes: The pool was tiny but nice. Water temp is kept warm which wasn't super ideal on warm days. The room and hotel were beautiful in my opinion. Every other hotel worker we interacted with (except for the person checking us in) was super lovely and warm. Free coffee, water, light snacks, and soft drinks/tequila during happy hour in the lobby which we definitely took advantage of. Lobby restaurant was quite good, if a little pricey for local standards.
  • Dislikes: Minor issues with our room that added up. Coffee maker wasn’t working properly in our room. It kept on making like 15ml shots of espresso—literally one sip. They had the same model coffee maker in the lobby and that one worked properly so I knew ours was broken somehow. There were two very small windows in the room that are both frosted, and one was broken (not fully sealed closed and couldn’t be opened either). They said they would send someone to take a look but nothing got fixed. Probably the biggest red flag was that the water from the bathroom faucet was brown for a short while during the middle of our stay. Rooftop restaurant was recently permanently closed, which made using the credit harder. During check-in, the staff made literally no mention of amenities or hours, so I had to ask about the pool hours. They also made no mention that the attached cocktail bar closes at 9:30pm every night (so early!!!) so when we went down to try it after 10pm, we couldn’t. Google says it closes at midnight so that needs to be updated, or at least tell the guests when they check in. We tried going on our last night, so we weren’t able to ultimately give it a try, even though it’s very well reviewed.
In Mexico, posted times, open and closing days don't matter especially on Google maps, etc. In the event you return on another trip, that's just the way it is.
