Someone just fact check for me please. I'm pretty sure I've got this right, but just looking for clarification.

If your transit is under 24 hours, your 'final destination' for 261 is the second flight destination.

If your transit becomes a stop over and is over 24 hours, you effectively have two final destinations - one for each flight.

For example, if you fly JFK-LHR overnight and land at 8am, and your onward flight to DUB is at 6am the following morning, your final destination is Dublin and even if that JFK flight is delayed 10 hours, provided the DUB is on time, no 261 compensation is payable.

If you fly on the same JFK overnight and your onward to DUB was more than 24 hours after you land, then compensation would be payable under 261 for a JFK delay. And if the DUB were subsequently delayed as well, that would be a further claim?
