I dont think it's much to ask.
It is probably the prosecco and they typically only cater a few mini bottles per flight (even on a 16 / 20F plane). As others have noted, AA is stingy in this regard. Perhaps the FA was trying to maximize the number of pax that could have sparkling wine by asking you to share with the person you were traveling with?
