I am on a challenge, where I need to pay/stay at a Marriot to reinstate my points that had expired.

Do you think it would be OK if I just have my Wife or Daughter check in and I don't actually show up, or do they keep track indicate somewhere whether I was actually there or not?

My wife/daughter need to travel in the next couple of months but I do not, and this needs to be done in this time frame.
