In many countries, passengers arriving from certain trusted countries do not need to go thru contrôles again and can proceed directly to the departure gate. This is because the host country trusts that the other country's screening is thorough enough that no further security controls need to be done. Example : A passenger arriving at AMS en transit from Singapour would be permitted to arrive directly in the departures hall and proceed to their next gate. However, a passenger arriving from say, Brasil, would have to go thru contrôles again before being allowed to proceed to their next gate.
Major exceptions to this are arrivals in the USA and mainland China, where
everyone has to go through contrôles again regardless of their origin.
