Yes, if you ask Chase to do a "product change", the type of card will change, but you will keep the same credit card number and credit history with the original account opening date.
Such a product change is available only within the same "family", that is, personal United Visa cards. (Business cards or the old MasterCard would be ineligible for this specific change, as they are in a different family.)
One can do this by telephone or within the Chase internal message system.
My PP which is a World Elite MC (had since abt 2005 -current 450 AF)
As I understand it - the fee will go to 600 on my Oct 1 renewal.
As such I would like to first apply for the Club card to get new card earn bonuses (still deciding between personal and business). Then I would downgrade the PP -
But if the explorer and no fee cards are Visa (at least I think they are)...it seems you are saying this will not be possible...thus I will lose my credit history?
Everything else I've read here seems to imply it can be done - PP MC to Explorer Visa (or no fee Visa), keeping orig card history.
