Just spoke to BA, I made this booking with a debit card.
They said that, despite the money leaving my account, British Airways did not receive the funds. I part paid 30,000 Avios for this booking, which they can see has also been debited from my account. Their advice is to make a new reservation and they will refund the Avios.
So I am now 30,000 Avios and £155 down, will probably have to spend a considerable amount of time in chasing up having these both refunded and also have to make a new reservation.
I feel that i'm within my right to go to the Airport tomorrow and claim IDB for the both of us.
Anyway - want to find solutions here, will calling back and trying to speak to someone else be of any use here?
