Just 8 legs, leaving mid June, coming back mid September. Total 170k miles and $450 in taxes and fees. Booking flights separately would be cheaper than paying the extra taxes/fees to fly around SE Asia and Europe.

Interestingly, they quoted me an additional $1000 in taxes/fees if I just added a single 2h business class Turkish Airlines flight between IST and ZAG. They also quoted me an additional $800 in taxes and fees if I added an economy leg from IAD-LAX on UA.

I truly believe there are some calculation mistakes but they never disclose any details. TK might be a problem but IAD LAX on economy will never incur a $800 fees. Maybe 800 yen.
