i see some people rushing to sign up for the CSR now to lock in the 1.5x for 2 years.there is still time and everyone should assess carefully and not rush into anything. the thing is if you werent already intending to apply for this card, then you are essentially paying to lock in the 1.5x, which means the 1.5cpp isnt really 1.5cpp anymore. for example, you find yourself only able to extract $550 value, and lose about $245 in year 2. with 70k UR points, that is worth $700 at 1cpp and $1050 at 1.5cpp. if you deduct the $245, then you arent really much better off. and this could all change if you find that there is a bigger SUB down the line. this is more of an issue for people with small UR reserve as the value of the 1.5x isnt really that big. and also consider how critical is the 1.5x to you - would you perhaps transfer the points to airlines or hotels?
