Thank goodness. I thought I was the only one
not remembering.
Last week, I knew my room was at the end of the hallway, last one to the right. I went for a walk and had some dinner. When I entered the hotel lobby, I couldn't remember for the life of me. The reception area was busy at the hotel and as I didn't want to bother waiting in line I headed towards the elevators.
I also had placed a Do Not Disturb sign on the door handle, figuring I would have an easier time finding the room. Thought it was the 14th floor and up I go. Nope. That wasn't it. Oh ya, 16th floor . . . Ummm, nope that wasn't it either. 15? Shoot.
Ran into the same kids in the elevator again. They probably thought I was a little too old to be playing on the elevators too

Or maybe they thought I was a quack, so they disappeared
So, what the heck. I rode the elevator up to the 20th and tried every single floor all the way down to about the 5th. Man did I feel stupid.
The problem with a lot of us though is that every night, we're in different cities, different hotels and this goes on for a long time. Sometimes a particular property is really different and the room number might stand out. Say a Westin property with room number 1715. The next night you might stay at a Quality Inn at 202, so remembering is easier.
How would you have liked this scenario though? First night, room 432. Second night, different city, same chain but different hotel, room 423. Third night, third city, room 322. Sigh ! Why do they make my life so difficult
So anyway, I headed down to the desk. Showed I.D. The employee tells me my room was on the . . . 14th !!!! . . . Really ?
So up I go, and realize that the room is towards the left side of the building. I could swear it was to the right side. Really, I did !!!! This whole time I wasn't even on the correct side of the building !
Now, I just try to talk to myself every time I check into a hotel and ride their elevator for the first time . . . Room 1425, room 1425, room 1425 . . .
