I have to agree here. I think the thoughts of most normal people when they were told this was “coming soon” immediately went to “cool, at least I’ll have an option instead of seeing these expire when I wasn’t able to use them to confirm anything all year.”
That’s exactly what I thought even though as a GS, I never see PPs expire.
Reading the tea leaves I suspect they plan to copy Delta's playbook and offer less free upgrades and monetize the front cabin more. Grandfathering miles + cash upgrades was part of the puzzle. So with that in mind this is more of a dog bone than a bonus. I guess time will tell.
