FS Seychelles Mahe: Would come back again, not perfect.
I booked a surf trip out here, but not much surf; stayed for 8 days.
Room: Hilltop Ocean View Villa. Started with 106, but after waking up to construction noise, asked to be moved; ended up at 117, which I would highly recommend if you don't mind stairs. It has a great sunset view and is far away from other villas as it is high up on the hill. Rooms are worn, but well appointed with a decent size pool and soaking tub. The views are gorgeous.
Service: Laissez fare island vibe; won't ever be top notch service. As everything requires a buggy to get around the property, they sometimes forget to come, so needed few reminders. Service during breakfast/dinner were always friendly and top notch. Don't expect seamless service where they plan to clean your room when you are gone; they have a set schedule if you are there or not.
Food: Very good breakfast, had a decent middle eastern spread as well as a daily breakfast special. I tried all of their dinner places, and all were decent. Their Omakase was surprisingly fun and decent; great chef. As they had fresh island fish everyday, I skipped any land based proteins. The octopus curry is an island speciality, and is a must try. Only bad dish was their shrimp biryani, which was too bland.
Spa: Excellent service and massage, ended up doing four 90 minute sessions with different therapists, and they were all good. The view from the spa is amazing.
Tours: I booked tours outside of the FS ecosystem, and are totally worth it. Did an island drive tour, which was one of the best tours that I have had for a very long time; hit every single top spot, as well as some short hikes. I would recommend the private helicopter flight from Mahe to Praslin, then a private boat to La Digue (through Ocean Blue Travel Seychelles); saved 1000 Euros booking through them versus FS directly.
Surf: Only did two days of small surf; Tropix surf was top notch.
Location: Due to being a surf trip, I stayed at Mahe rather than Des Roches. Being the first time in Seychelles, I loved Praslin alot more, as it had the Granite Rock Seychelles vibe, much more than Mahe. La Digue was busy for a small island, and wasn't my cup of tea.
Beaches: After seeing all the beaches around Mahe, I liked Petite Anse at FS the best. The beautiful white sand, calm waters, and the backdrop can't be beat; even compared to Anse Intendance (voted their best beach per the guide).
