It means, I have no idea how to collect my bags when the itinerary is canceled midway through the ticket.

There are too many unknowns and without OP coming back -- if they put the bags on a belt then the bag is likely in IAH. If they didn't it's likely in CRP. All we know for sure is that UA knows for certain that it did not transport OP to CRP -- so it seems the bag location is the most likely tied to whether or not they were put on a belt in IAH...
They never went to the belt in IAH or at least I was never notified of such.
