What I do is buy the $200 VISA eGift card.
It can be added to Google Pay.
Buying it counts as online spending and gets 2%.
I keep track of my usage. This is a bit of a hassle, but getting 10% is worth it.
This morning I bought a $200 VISA eGift card.
I used 1000 points and paid the rest with the SYW card.
$199 of online spend ; -1000 points (redemption) ; +3980 points (2%)
I have found that I can pay my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance premiums and my water+sewage bills with it.
My municipality charges me 2.9% but with 10%, I come out ahead.
I have done this 3x already. Two more times and I get the $100 statement.
I am saving the GGR for buying VGC for Discover debit card loading at Walmart.
