If the travel advisories turn into warnings, airlines stop flying there because their crews are in danger and can't stay in that region after/before the flight. So the cancellations will take of that for you.
OS used to fly to Iraq even in fairly hot phases of war, I wouldn't say that cancellation is given. It always depends on the nature of the risk.
