Etihad is not a UK or EU carrier so is also outside the scope of EC261

I think that you will just have to accept the delay as an unfortunate outcome, but at least you got to fly Etihad home
I disagree, depending upon the answer to my earlier question, the OP may have a strong case against BA for involuntary denied boarding.
