I did this about 6 months ago, MDZ-AEP-IGR. Worked fine. We lucked out and got a jetbridge on the inbound, straight in to the gate area, and off to the lounge.

Even if you get put on a bus on your inbound, there's a connections path where the bus drops you off, so you should be able to head up to the departures level while staying airside.

If you're doing separate tickets with checked bags that you'll have to collect, I don't think I'd chance 2 hours, but on the same ticket, it should be fine most of the time, I'd think.
