Both times I was there they had plenty of cars - dozens if not hundreds. I am PC and usually book intermediate sedan. The first time I got a Grand Cherokee 4xe or Wrangler 4xe and went inside to see if I could get a Durango, and walked out with an Escalade. Last time I was assigned a Camry, and at the desk (went in to see what else I could get) was offered that or a Malibu or Sonata, so just took the Camry. Boring car and definitely not my favorite, but low mileage and was really good on gas.

When returning, the shuttle pickup is right next to returns. It could not be easier. I have no complaints about Avis DEN.
