Yes, A3 sets high standards and yes I am happy with them.
I'm not sure this will be seen by everyone as an "enhancement", but it certainly has something to do with both your question and statement above:
When A3 changed the earnings calculator/table/chart/whatever for its own flights, it actually only decreased earnings on light and the very cheapest flex fares, while everything else saw an increase in miles earned, especially business class (which for my favourite route went from a "flat" 2000 to over 3100 miles, or over 55% more!). If it wasn't for that I (and probably many others) wouldn't have made it to gold. This also indirectly means that the "standards" for reaching and maintaining gold were effectively lowered (though the ones always flying in economy "light" can argue about the opposite).
Anyway, I am now reading quite a few speculations about this matter around here.
I do acknowledge the fact, that Aegean usually implements changes on short notice (which can justify the impatience I observe in some comments), but since we actually have zero clues with regards to specific changes I don't think there's any point in speculating any further than we already have and that we should just wait and see.
