Yikes. The way I read this, I don't see
any improvements at all from the current card unless you really get full value from what are basically Amex Offers permanently clipped to the card ("spend huge amounts of money on luxury products, here's a couple hundred back" style offers). Even the 4x on airfare and hotels is overshadowed by the devaluation of UR points by removing the $0.015 value floor, and you can transfer UR with a CSP anyway. As cash, 4% at 1cpp is now
worse than 4.5% before (at 1.5 cpp).
Sounds like if your anniversary date is before October 25 though, you aren't getting dinged by the new AF until 2026? At least it sounds like existing UR balances won't be devalued.
Honestly never thought I would see the day when I got rid of my Chase cards and kept an Amex Plat, but this is looking like it... although Amex has announced they will probably devalue more this year too so who knows. At the end of the day, I guess these cards are trying to make a profit off of huge spenders who don't care if the cards are valuable, so we are not the target market
